Why won't you revive the Alpine name and bring this on 'the market' as a 'simple' Renault?

The Alpine was originally a nimble, tiny rally car... this is anything but that... Nice supercar, sure, just not an Alpine. (Oh yeah, and the A110 was "affordable" at the time... It was sold the equivalent of 44000 "today's" $$ for the 1600S... This is not going to be anywhere near that price if it EVER exists...)

Nimble, tiny, it weighs less than 1,100kg. Let's see what other Supercars do:

- LaFerrari - 1430 kgs

- McLaren P1 - 'about 1500 kgs'

Still nimble I suppose. And didn't Alpine have a car with over 1600 cc's before? Let me think...

You know this had V8, right? Alpine didn't only compete in rally, don't forget the M63, A220, etc?

Cars/brands evolve. Otherwise we would have a 1-cilinder Mercedes-Benz S-class.

That's what I thought as well. And the rear lights seem to have been influenced somewhat by Maserati I suppose:

Still, a good looking car.

I can see it. Almost a little McLaren P1 as well.

Then I realized I really don't like the mp4's tail lights

All those angles and the best they can give us is a straight line. Sure they go with the other black lines on the back but if those angled and dropped with the body line it'd look pretty crazy. But sigh... I am not automobile designer

No they didn't really do anything else in term of production cars... The A610 was closer to a Porsche 911 but it was still light and quite nimble... A nimble includes precise sure, but also tiny... Good luck enjoying a P1 on japanese roads for exemple or on some narrow Alpine roads...

These are one offs racecars that Alpine produced and in noway represent what Rédélé created and what made the brand during its entire life...

How is an A610 a LIGHT car? It was a freaking 1420 kgs! A 911 of that time was a 100kgs lighter. And tiny: It was almost 4,5 meters long, again bigger than a 911 of that era. The last nimble/light Alpine was the A310 with it's 1000kgs.

If you've read the article I linked to the post you would have read that the R.S. 01 will be a car meant for a racing series, so it's more like the 'one off racecars' that Alpine produced for Le Mans I suppose.

Let's say it's "normal" in term of weight... It stays very precise and it's actually pretty small when in or next to it... Sure it's long but length is not the problem, it feels narrow, and it can go pretty much anywhere... (it's narrower than a golf). It's almost a real 4 seater too which was definitly not the case of the 911.

My family owned them all, V6 turbo included (I'm born with an A110 1600SC in the garage and it's still there today). While the A610 was the biggest one it kept this light and nimble feeling which cannot be replicated in a car that is wider than the road (so to speak of course...) The A110-50 is almost 2m wide lol! How is that even called an A110???

Believe me: I love the GTA/A610, especially the 'Le Mans'. But I'm quite sure these were not exactly what Jean Rédélé had in mind as well (okay, maybe that 'Le Mans'). The GTA became a grand tourer (I suppose that's what the 'GT' in it's name stood for?) in stead of a dedicated sportscar (four seats!!!). Fact is that I just don't know why Renault isn't making more use out of this excellent sub brand they own, that's all. And as far as I'm concerned creating a car for a racing series on a track answers to Alpine's Le Mans heritage perfectly.

The A110 is one of the best designs ever, quite jealous of you right now by the way!
